Every year since 1981 the Unemployed Centre has organised a Xmas Party for children of the Unemployed. Last year we held a Party for 100 children at Hollingdean Community Centre and also took nearly 300 children to see the Aladdin and Alice Pantomimes at the Gardener Centre and Theatre Royal. We also provided an outing for 30 teenageers kids to the Bowling Multiplex. If you are on benefit and your kids are aged between 5 and 11, then contact us nearer the time for a form. We also need volunteers for the Xmas events!For children whose parents are unemployed Xmas, which is at the best of times a commercial festival, can simply emphasise poverty. If you are unemployed you cannot afford to take your children to the Panto. We spend about 3 months raising the funds in order to give as many kids as possible a good time at Xmas.
